API 6D Ball Valve Delivery for a Middle East Refinery Project

Project Overview

The project covered the packaged delivery of API 6D trunnion-mounted ball valves and associated valves for a refinery expansion in the Middle East, across critical points including tank farm isolation, process line isolation and truck and tanker loading arms.

Challenge

The project is located in a hot, high-salinity coastal environment. The medium contains sulfur and some points handle high-temperature oil and gas. The owner mandates API monogram marking, fire-safe design (API 607 / 6FA) and EN 10204 3.2 material certificates; the schedule is tight, document approval involves many stages, and the ITP and third-party witness plan must be submitted in advance.

Our Solution

Selection was graded by medium and operating conditions: sour service points use NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 compliant materials with B7M/2HM bolts, and Class 900 and above use RTJ faces; soft-seated valves meet ISO 5208 Rate A zero leakage, and critical points include fire-safe and anti-static design. Each delivery includes API 6D monogram marking, EN 10204 3.1/3.2 material certificates and shell and seat test reports, with third-party witnessing arranged per the owner's ITP.

Results

The valves arrived on the planned milestones and passed incoming inspection and pressure test verification at the first attempt; all sour service and fire-safe requirements were met, and the document package passed the owner's technical review. Subsequent spare parts and similar valves for adjacent units led to continuous supply, and the client added Vexval to its approved supplier list.
