Butterfly and Check Valve Batch Supply for a North African Municipal Wastewater Plant
Project Overview
The project supplied wafer butterfly valves, dual-plate check valves and flanged gate valves in batches for the expansion of a municipal wastewater treatment plant in North Africa, for aeration, return sludge and effluent lines.
Challenge
The medium contains sludge, sand particles and a small amount of hydrogen sulfide, combining corrosion and abrasion. The project is managed by an international contractor with strict requirements on delivery schedule, coating standard (epoxy anti-corrosion) and acceptance documents. There are many batches and dispersed sizes (DN80–DN800), requiring phased deliveries to match civil installation progress.
Our Solution
Selection was graded by line function: sludge and aeration lines use wafer and flanged butterfly valves (CF8M disc or ductile iron with epoxy coating, EPDM soft seat), return sludge pump outlets use dual-plate check valves, and effluent and maintenance lines use flanged gate valves. The coating system was standardized, and acceptance documents, material certificates and pressure test records were provided in batches as the contractor required.
Results
Deliveries reached site in batches on schedule; after installation and water commissioning there was no leakage or sticking. In the operating period, maintenance workload was lower than on other sections of the same project, and the contractor continues to use Vexval's valve selection scheme on subsequent sections.
